A chance to get to know me better
On an early morning a couple of weeks ago, I woke up to a happy surprise – I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I would like to say a big thank you to Caitlyn who nominated me and I see this as a great opportunity to let you all get to know me a bit better!
What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?
The Sunshine Blogger Award is an award for (new) bloggers given by other bloggers. You can get nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award if you are able to inspire positivity, creativity, and joy in the blogging community.
What should you do if you’re being nominated for the award?
Once you’re nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award, you have to follow some easy rules:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog from your post.
2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you. Then, nominate 11 new bloggers and come up with a list of 11 questions for them to answer on their own blog!
3. Display the rules and the Sunshine Blogger Award Logo on your website
The questions I got from Caitlyn
What was your first trip alone?
I have several times travelled somewhere in a group just to realize that we all had different goals with our trip, so I often ended up walking around alone anyway – that’s when I realized I wanted to travel solo! The very first trip I did completely alone was when I backpacked around Europe for two months in 2017. It was amazing and after that, I continued travelling alone – you meet so many people and you have the freedom to do anything you want!
Now I’m travelling with my boyfriend, which isn’t too bad either, haha! But he usually wants to experience the same things that I want on our travels, so that helps a lot.
Are you a typical all-inclusive or an Airbnb traveler?
Airbnb all the way, I’ve only travelled all-inclusive once and that was ten years ago – and I’m not planning on doing it again! It’s just not my way of travelling, I prefer to get out and explore different restaurants or to just cook where I stay to keep the costs down.
What was the reason to start blogging about your adventures?
I started blogging when I decided to completely change my life by quitting my full-time job to become a full-time backpacker instead. I want to share my stories and inspire others to follow their dreams as well!
What was the best holiday you had till now?
I’m not sure – I don’t really count my travels as holidays anymore, it’s just my life at the moment. But the best place I’ve visited so far is definitely Newfoundland! There’s just so much to do and it’s absolutely beautiful. You can even see icebergs!
What are the three destinations on your bucket list?
California, Alaska and Greenland. And, if everything goes as planned, two of them might be checked off the list already this year!
Which activities are at the top of your bucket list?
Oh, that’s a good question. I’m not into extreme activities such as bungy jumping or canyoning (yes, those are extreme to me!) but I really enjoy hiking and would love to go back to Oahu to do some hikes! I’d also really like to see an iceberg. Sadly, I missed it when I visited Newfoundland last year. Seeing a bear in Canada (from a safe distance!) would also be cool!
Show us your favorite travel picture and tell us why!
It’s really, really hard to only choose one. But I love this one Fredrik took of me some weeks ago in Kelowna, the view is just amazing!
Have you learned a good life lesson on your travels?
I’ve learned a lot on my travels. Nothing specific that I can think of, but a lot about how kind strangers can be and how many interesting people you’ll meet on the way.
How did traveling change your life?
Well, it completely changed my life! When I went backpacking two years ago for two months and got back to my job, I realized it’s just not what I wanted – at all. So I saved some money to quit for real and just go out in the world, full-time as long as I like to. Travel has given me a completely different life!
How do you combine blogging with work, or are you a full-time blogger? Please give us all some tips!
For me it’s more about combining blogging with travelling, to be honest, and it’s not that easy! Since Fredrik and I are constantly moving to new places, there’s never really a time where I want to sit in front of the computer instead of being out exploring. But still, I find blogging a lot of fun and I love to share my stories – so I try to make as much time as I can for it!
City or beach destination?
Beach for sure! The winter’s been way too long in Canada, I need summer!
My nominees for the Sunshine Blogger Awards
I have decided to nominate 10 travel bloggers instead of 11, since these are blogs that I find interesting, follow and love interacting with – you’re all doing a great job and I really enjoy reading about your adventures!
